Submarine repairing works won’t disrupt telecommunications

Bangladesh will not face any massive disruption in international telecommunications system during the maintenance work period of the submarine cable in Thailand. As part of maintaining submarine cable consortium, two repeaters will be re set up soon between the section of Thailand and Malaysia.

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Ltd (BSCCL) in a press conference on Monday informed about this while BSCCL officials said the repairing work is expected to start any time after October 15 and it will take 12 to 14 days to complete the work.

For the period, the authority said, alterative measures have been taken for voice and data service or bandwidth through connecting via east bound (Malaysia and Singapore).

They also expressed the hope that there will be no possibility to create problem in Internet browsing and telecommunications sector in Bangladesh.
